Jameela Jamil Went Off On Celebrities Who Promote Weight Loss Tea | Revelist

“The Good Place” star Jameela Jamil is quickly proving herself to be an icon, not just in the realm of comedy television but also in the body-positive movement. She’s always outspoken about the struggles she’s overcome to accept her own body, and more importantly, she stands up for women and men who don’t have as big a voice as she does.

She’s also not afraid to point out absolute crockery when she sees it. Flat Tummy Tea, the end of your time is quickly approaching.

These days, it’s almost impossible to get on Instagram without coming across a sponsored post for some sort of weight-loss tea.

The Kardashians, Blac Chyna, Amber Rose, and Iggy Azalea are just a few of the celebrities who peddle Flat Tummy Tea, FitTea, or Lyfe Tea, all of which claim to suppress the appetite, increase weight loss, and a bunch of other BS.

Even Cardi B just promoted a similar tea, called Teami, which she claims helped her lose weight after giving birth.

That rightfully set Jamil off — she took to Twitter to denounce Flat Tummy Tea specifically and the safety hazard it poses to women.

My thoughts on this @FlatTummyCo poisonous rhetoric (that is pink and always marketed at young girls) pic.twitter.com/zSvNpm1kaK

“I hope all these celebrities all sh*t their pants in public, the way the poor women who buy this nonsense upon their recommendation do,” she wrote.

They got Cardi B on the laxative nonsense “detox” tea. GOD I hope all these celebrities all shit their pants in public, the way the poor women who buy this nonsense upon their recommendation do. Not that they actually take this shit. They just flog it because they need MORE MONEY pic.twitter.com/OhmTjjWVOp

“If you want to ‘curb your appetite’ eat some damn green vegetables or have some nutritious natural vegetable soup. You need fiber! Not something that honestly just makes you have diarrhea the day you take it and constipates you in the long run…”

“Generally just don’t ever take diet advice from women who know nothing about nutrition/basic advertising ethics.”

Generally just don’t ever take diet advice from women who know nothing about nutrition/basic advertising ethics. IF you want to get healthier, talk to a trainer/doctor. ????????

If you think that was savage, just wait until you read Jamil’s second rant about the issue.

After Iggy Azalea posted a Flat Tummy Tea advertisement, she truly went for it.

Another double agent for the patriarchy bites the dust… When will these women who are covered in plastic surgery stop telling their followers to drink a laxative to look like them? It’s so embarrassing and it’s so encouraging of eating dirsordered behavior. BE BETTER ALLIES! https://t.co/9hjcapRdwL

“I was the teenager who starved herself for years, who spent all her money on these miracle cures and laxatives and tips from celebrities on how to maintain a weight that was lower than what my body wanted it to be.”
