A woman has shown off her “incredible” weight loss after losing seven stone.

Jamie Loader began her journey two years ago after a family holiday to Italy.

The 29-year-old and her family go to Italy every year but after a trip in 2018, Jamie decided enough was enough after being “absolutely disgusted” by what she saw.

A few months later, she joined Slimming World.

“I had done loads of diets, fad diets, shakes, all sorts of stuff like that. Someone took a photo of me (in Italy) and I was absolutely disgusted,” Jamie told LancsLive.

“I just looked not like me, I looked really big and older than I was. And so In January 2019, that was when I took the plunge.”

Before starting her weight loss journey, Jamie weighed just over 17 stone and since losing seven stone.

It wasn’t the firs time Jamie had lost weight as she previously joined a Slimming World group a couple of years before.

During that time, Jamie was able to lose almost a stone but wasn’t able to keep it off.

“I had lost maybe seven pounds, going up to a stone and thought, you know what, I can do this on my own,” she said.

“I started doing it on my own and put the weight back on. I couldn’t get it in my head that I would ever lose any more than a stone.”

Jamie, from Accrington, Lancs, now weighs 9 stone 13 lbs after joining the new group in 2019.

“I feel like a new person, I’ve just got so much more confidence and I’m happier. My outlook on life, I used to be really negative about everything,” she said.

“I always used to be the person that wore black and always had an excuse not to go out because of how I looked.

“I love seeing people now and doing things and just how happier I am.”

Through Slimming World, Jamie has been able to take control of her meals and enjoys planning meals and has even replaced weekly takeaways for fakeaways.

But when the pandemic hit meaning all the usual group sessions had to be moved online and Jamie believes she would have struggled without their support.

“Everyone was in lockdown and so it was the only thing I could control, my eating and I started exercising more,” she said. “Back when this all began I panicked a bit.

“I couldn’t concentrate on my weight loss or eating as healthily as I did before because everything else seemed so up in the air.”

Local-weight loss expert Marisa Hassan have been together to help Jamie continue to keep up the amazing work she’s done so far.

Marisa Hassan said: “Lockdown has had an effect on all of us – turning our lives upside down, disrupting our routines and making us feel more anxious than usual as we worry about our own health and the health of loved ones.

“It’s really no surprise it’s had an effect on our choices around food, drink and activity.

“When my members made healthy behaviour changes prior to lockdown little did they know this would give them the tools to cope during this challenging time, supporting them to continue to successfully lose or maintain weight loss.”

Now with a positive outlook on her future, Jamie is much more optimistic at keeping herself healthy and has even taken part in a step challenge completing four hundred thousand steps to raise £200 for the Samaritans.
